Grand Marshall 2025

KUDOS TO A GOOD GUY: GUY MARTIN

NAMED GRAND MARSHAL

If you live in Northfield, chances are you’ve been helped by Guy Martin—whether you knew it or not. Since opening North Main Street Service back in 1979, Guy has been the quiet hero behind countless roadside rescues, inspections, and last-minute miracles. And this year, we’re proud to honor him as the Grand Marshal of Northfield’s Labor Day Parade!

How did he find out?
It was classic small-town charm. Debbie Stevens stopped by with two requests:

“First, my daughter’s car needs an inspection. Second... will you be our Grand Marshal?”

Guy said yes—on one condition.
He’s not riding in a convertible.

“I usually drive my tractor in the parade anyway, so I figured this way I can go first, then pull over and watch the rest.”

That’s right: this year, Guy will lead the beloved parade of tractors—his fellow drivers proudly lining up behind him.

For a man who doesn’t like the spotlight, the recognition is well-deserved. Guy has always been the “go-to guy” in town, whether helping stranded drivers, supporting friends, or simply lending a hand without fanfare. After a hit-and-run accident ended his longtime AAA service a few years ago, Guy stepped away from the 24/7 demands—but not from helping his neighbors.

“Now on weekends, I do what I want,” he says with a grin.

From fixing cars to quietly fixing the day for so many, Guy Martin is the neighbor we all hope to have. On Labor Day morning, he’ll be leading the charge as we celebrate Labor Day.

Don’t miss it. Get downtown early and cheer on a true hometown hero.
